Central Surplus Warehouse Program: One central warehouse, every hospital in the network

Situation

Surplus furniture sat in closets and basements across the network while other hospitals placed new orders for the same items, with no shared view of what existed.

Approach

Decommissioned furniture was consolidated at one warehouse, graded and entered into a shared catalog that every hospital can browse and request from, with transfers tracked end to end.

The first question is now "is it in the warehouse?" That alone changed how we budget.

Anthony Rossi — Supply Chain Director, Health System

Results

Hospitals now check the catalog before buying, surplus is reused rather than discarded, and leadership has one accurate picture of furniture inventory and where it is.
